Trash cans must be stored out of sight on your property - please do not keep them in your front yard or leave them on the curb. Trash deposited in backyards must be in a trash container with a lid.
Beginning October 2019, all trash placed on the curb for collection the night before pickup MUST be in a container. If trash bag only is placed on the curb, it cannot be put out until the morning of collection to prevent animals scavengers tearing open the bag and spreadng its contents on the ground or sidewalk.
Trash Pickup: Your quarterly dues covers regular curbside pickup. Our trash contractor, Charlie & Son, picks up anything allowed at the county landfill. The exceptions are hazardous materials such as paint, motor oil, construction debris, and items too large or heavy for their crews to load; there is a separate charge for tires. Most trash and debris can be left on the curb Mondays or Thursdays. Recyclables are picked up on Thursdays and can be set out on the curb in the bins provided or in a suitable collection container. (Recyclables are sorted after being discharged from the trash truck.) Yard debris and leaves should be bagged and/or tied in manageable bundles and put out on Thursday.
Call Charlie & Son at 703-670-9652 to inform them of special large items like furniture, applicances, etc. (limit one per week). Recycle refuse bins are available for $5 each; please contact us at 368-0202 if you would like one.
There is no collection on New Years Day, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. There will be no make-up; next collection will be the following Monday or Thursday.
In addition remember it's against Association covenants to store your empty trash containers in plain view of passers-by in the front yard or on the stoop.
If you are experiencing animals tearing into your curbside bags, consider pouring some ammonia into the bag before tying it or spray it with ammonia.
Litter: We take pride in maintaining appearances and property values. Be proactive if you see litter or litterers - keep our neighborhoods clean and trash-free. We are supremely appreciative to catch neighbors doing a good deed and picking up rather than just complaining!
Graffiti: If you are the recipient of graffiti on your fence or shed, best practices say to remove it as quickly as possible. If you are able, please do so - power washing usually takes care of it. If you need assistance, contact SHOA at 368-0202.
Disposal Center: Household hazardous materials and electronics/computers are accepted on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Balls Ford Road Compost Facility. The BFRC Facility is located at 13000 Balls Ford Road, Manassas (near the intersection of Balls Ford Road and Wellington Road). For information, call 703-335-8181.
